Sept 9-11 the Nascar Tour made its stop at Virginia State University. They came in with high promotion and many activities such as game shows and giveaways, to help students gain a better knowledge of Nascsr. I was a little sceptical of how receptive VSU students would be to the idea of Nascar, and really if they would even care. Let's be honest, Nascar has never been sport with different shades of people to represent them, so coming to an HBCU I didn't think there were may opportunities for someone like me. I couldn't have been more wrong. Nascar has so many different aspects of careers and opportunities I was amazed. Not only do they great internship opportunities, Nascar also has a diversity program dedicated to reaching out to students of color who might me interested in Nascar. What really changed my perception of Nascar was going to the race itself. Experiencing a live Nascar race and looking at one on television are two very different things. The race was very exciting. The combination watching the pit crew, crashes, and the crowds energy was one I will never forget.
